This is my Pa. He likes to spoil me with tales. Some are tall tales.
In a low voice, he starts a tale of a girl made of air.
She can hoist herself up on a chair and not be seen.
You might point at her when you are out and it starts to rain.
In the snow, the flakes rest on her head. Kids point at the odd snow.
One day, she joins a class and picks up a green crayon. The boy next to her screams in a loud voice!
The boy holds up his brush full of yellow paint. He asks if he can paint her face so he can see her. She keeps still and waits.
The girl jumps for joy! He paints her hair full of toys and things she loves best.
Now she paints herself bright each day. Her prints point the way, full of joy.
She stands on the hill, full of joy. Stars and suns fill her up, and all can see her.
In a small voice I ask Pa, 'Was it a tall tale?' He asks what I think. I peek out and think hard.
I say, 'I think it is a tall tale.' He smiles and leaves. But then, I hear a noiseβ¦
