This is Ned the farmer and his magic book. He lives in a wooden house on his farm. He grows crops and keeps lots of pigs and cows. Life on the farm keeps Ned busy.
One day, Ned goes inside to craft some new gear. He makes leather armor, but he hates the color. 'Brown is awful,' he says.
The fields outside Ned's house are full of flowers. 'Go and get a handful of flowers, and I will show you what to do,' says The Book. Ned picks some red ones and some yellow ones.
The Book tells Ned to crush the red flower he picked. It turns into a handful of red dye. 'Now, rub it onto the leather,' says The Book.
Ned puts on the red leather armor. 'Red is a dreadful color,' says Ned. 'Are there any other dyes I can make?' he says.
Ned takes the yellow flower and crushes it into dye. 'This one is a golden color, look,' says The Book. Ned puts it on one more bit of leather armor.
Ned is wearing the yellow armor. He looks doubtful. 'I'm not sure I like being as yellow as the sun,' says Ned.
Ned takes one more red flower, and one more yellow flower. He makes dye out of them, and slowly puts them both on the bench. The red and yellow start to mix!
Ned takes the new dye and puts it on more armor. 'Red and yellow makes orange,' he says. 'Orange is such a cheerful color!'
Ned is a busy builder, and he lines up wooden stands in a long row by the farmhouse wall. 'Why so many?' asks The Book. Ned smiles wryly and tells The Book, 'You'll see.'
Ned goes out and gets more dyes from flowers and plants. Then, he makes more armor. Look at all the lovely colors! 'Welcome to my fashion show!' he says to The Book.
Ned wears his orange armor at night. The monsters can see him well, but he does not care. 'Now I shine brightly when I fight! No more brown!' he says.
