Gran cooks the coconut on the stove top. She pours and stirs and will not stop! I breathe in deep at the sweet, sweet smell. Gran's pies are the best. Oh, she bakes them well!
Gran tips the coconut into the tin. She tries to smooth it flat. 'Let the bake begin!' I will not miss this! I rest my chin. I watch each piece go in.
The dried coconut sits in chunks on the tray. Gran grins and leans close. 'Now pack them away!' I tried to pack each chunk right to the brim. I press the lid on tight, neat and trim.
Now for the best part. It is time to eat! I shriek and grab a piece of the treat. I hold it up high. 'Got it!' I call with glee. All those tries paid off for Gran and for me!
