On the left side of the image, Bam β€” a young boy with warm medium-brown skin, short tousled black hair with a slight cowlick, large white circular eyes (closed peacefully), rosy cheeks, wearing a loose orange/rust sleeveless top and a green neckerchief β€” is sitting and playing a flute, while a friend leans against him dozing off. Another child sits nearby on the wooden deck, smiling contentedly and holding what appears to be a small lizard or iguana. They are under a wooden beach shelter on a sunny day, with sandy shore, turquoise water, and rocky cliffs visible in the background. Bird β€” a small, round-bodied light-blue bird with an orange/peach beak and two small black dot eyes β€” is flying in the upper-left area of the scene above the shelter, wings spread wide. A figure stands in the background near a boat on the beach, and an additional child sits on the deck in the foreground.

Bam sat in the shade. His flute sang soft. The kids slept. Bird swept past. Hush, hush.

On the right side of the image, Bam stands beneath a wooden porch with a shingled roof, looking up with a startled, scared expression as the roof shakes and debris and dust fall from above onto his head. His mouth is open wide as if screaming, and his body is tense with alarm. He wears his orange/rust sleeveless top and green neckerchief. The scene is set outdoors in warm, golden daylight with a plain warm-toned background on the left. Nearby, a girl with her hand raised looks worried, and two other children huddle together under the shaking structure alongside Bam.

The kids woke up. They ran to the porch. The land shook! Dust fell. 'What was that?' Bam said. His flute slid from his hand.

On the left side of the image, Bam stands in the foreground looking out toward the teal-coloured sea with an excited, wide-eyed expression, one arm extended as if pointing or reaching toward the water. He wears his orange/rust sleeveless top and green neckerchief. Behind the shoreline, a large Sea Dragon tail β€” covered in deep purple/violet scales with vivid red streaks across them β€” curls up dramatically from the ocean, sending a spray of water and sparkles into the sky. Bird soars near the emerging tail, wings spread wide. Several other figures are gathered on the sandy shore among wooden structures, looking on with surprise at the emerging tail. Fish are scattered on the ground near the shore. Bam is looking directly at the tail.

Scales sprang from the waves. 'A beast!' Bam said. 'A huge beast!' Bird went close. Splash! The tail shook.

On the right side of the image, enormous stylised waves crash down over a coastal neighbourhood of houses with peaked roofs, engulfing them in swirling water and spray. The waves tower dramatically above the rooftops, curling with decorative spiral patterns and white foam, the coast turning white with foam. The left side is plain dusty-rose background. Sea Dragon is visible in the upper portion of the scene β€” its deep purple/violet-scaled body rising above the churning waves, yellow-gold eyes blazing with fury and mouth open showing small white teeth, curved purple horns silhouetted against the sky as it thrashes and causes the great quake.

The huge beast rose up from the sea. Its eyes blazed gold. The waves crashed on the huts. Crash, crash!

On the left side of the image, Sea Dragon's massive face dominates the upper portion of the scene, mouth slightly open with small white teeth visible and yellow-gold eyes staring forward with an intense expression, deep purple/violet scales and curved purple horns framing its face. Its huge throat area shows a reddish hue beneath the lavender underbelly. Bird is flying just past Sea Dragon's throat, wings spread wide mid-flight. In the lower-left foreground, Bam stands facing toward the viewer at a three-quarter angle, holding his flute to his lips and playing, eyes focused upward toward the great beast. He wears his orange/rust sleeveless top and green neckerchief. The background is filled with swirling, misty patterns suggesting a magical atmosphere, with the right portion left as plain muted purple background for text overlay. The sky is a peach colour. The Sea Beast and Bam are looking at each other.

Bam's hands shook. His flute sang soft. The song kept on. The beast went still. Hush, hush.

Page 6
On the right side of the image, Sea Dragon rises from ocean waves, its long serpentine neck curving upward with a calm, peaceful expression β€” eyes fully closed and mouth gently closed as it sways to the music. Its deep purple/violet scales glisten and its lavender underbelly is visible as the waves around its body recede, the foam drying and the sea turning calm. Bird flies near Sea Dragon's neck on the upper right, wings spread wide in mid-flight, beak open as if giving a tweet. In the lower-left foreground, Bam stands at a three-quarter angle, still playing his flute with a serene expression, his orange/rust sleeveless top and green neckerchief visible. The left portion is plain muted background for text overlay.

The beast shut its eyes. The waves went still. It sank back in the sea. Hush, hush.

Page 7
In the lower-left portion of the image, Bam stands smiling and looking upward, carrying a large wooden beam on his shoulder as he helps rebuild along the beach. He wears his orange/rust sleeveless top and green neckerchief. Beside him, other friends work together β€” some carrying planks and logs, others further down the sandy shore pushing wooden boats back toward the turquoise water. Bird flies overhead in the centre of the scene, wings spread wide, beak open cheerfully. The beach stretches along the right side with calm blue-green water, and a grassy hillside rises in the background on the left, where more small figures can be seen walking and helping with the cleanup.

The shore was a mess. Bam held up a plank. 'We shall fix it!' he said, and Bird swept by with a cheer.
