Pip and the Lost Nuts (Silent e)
Practice Words
Single-syllable words where a silent 'e' makes the preceding vowel long (/eΙͺ/, /iΛ/, /aΙͺ/, /ΙΚ/, /juΛ/).
Small homes rest up on a pine. Red and snug, all in a line.
Pip hid nuts in a big hole with pride. Pip made a safe spot by the tree side.
The nut spot is not the same! Pip yells out, 'Is this a game?'
Pip asked the bees up by the hive. The bees buzzed close and made a dive!
The bees got mad and gave a chase. They flung Pip out at quite a pace!
Pip asked the fly, was it his crime? The fly took off, a waste of time.
Pip ran up to Liz. Did Liz take mine? Liz held up fruit, a gift so fine.
Liz took no nuts, and smiled with grace. They sat a while in a safe pine place.
The nuts fell down! Pip slid down the pine. She will not stop till this is fine.
A beaver dug quite close to Pip. A hole broke in, nuts made a trip!
Pip made the hole safe, a fine place. Up the tree went Pip with grace.
Pip sits snug and safe in her dome. Pip grins and rests, so glad at home.
